Registered nurses, or RNs work with patients in hospitals, in doctor's offices, and in nursing homes. They work in public health facilities such as government agencies and schools. Nurses have a large variety of tasks they can perform, such as observing patients and performing medical treatments. They monitor patients' vital signs, record their observations and other medical data in charts, and discuss cases with doctors. They also supervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and aide and assist doctors with exams when requested. Office nurses may also perform routine lab tests and office work such as maintaining the stock of supplies.
